How to change the font size?
In the settings view, there is an option to change the font size (just above the preview). Slide it left/right to change the font size.
Also, when viewing a chapter/parasha - you can open the hover view and change the font size directly from there. -
How to add a bookmark?
In the chapter view, simply press a verse and you'll get a list of options.
one of them will be "Add Bookmark"
Note: There is an option to do the same in the Parasha view, but you have to make sure that you enable the links for Parasha view in the settings (Parasha without links should be off). -
How to delete a bookmark?
As in many places on the iPhone - swipe your finger from left to right on a bookmark row and a delete button will appear.

Do I have to select and copy a verse in order to bookmark it?

Can I perform a complex search using wildcards?
Yes. A percent symbol ("%") in the search pattern matches any sequence of zero or more characters in the string. An underscore ("_") in the search pattern matches any single character in the string. Any other character matches itself or its lower/upper case equivalent (i.e. case-insensitive matching).

How to move to a new Chapter/Parasha?
There are 2 ways to move between Chapters/Parashiot:
1. In the top right corner, there are 2 arrows, these will allow you to move to the next or previous Chapter/Parasha.
2. In the top left cornet, there is a button with the title of the book. Pressing on it will show you the selection wheel. When done, press on the top left button again (which is now titled 'Select Chap.'/'Select Parasha'). -
Can the application bring you to this-week Parasha ?
Not at the moment.
But this is on the least of features that most certainly get into the application. -
How do you download JPS English translation and/or Onkelus translation from within the app?
In order to download the translations, you have to go to the settings panel, and then choose the Bible Language.
Once you choose English or Heb. & Eng. you will be asked to approve the download of the English translation.
Once you choose Onkelus or Heb. & Onk. you will be asked to approve the download of the Onkelus translation.
After the download is complete, you won't have to download the file again.Please note: the file that you download comes from Machon Mamre website. it might be busy some times and the download might fail. most of the times it works well.

Can the english text be downloaded from the app store? The app says I need to download it via WiFi.
The English/Onkelus translations cannot be downloaded from the app store as they are coming form Machon Mamre website.
I can't distribute their files with my application, but downloading it later from within the app is ok.
WiFi is not a must - the files are 1.5-3.5MB, so if you have an unlimited data plan - go ahead and download via 3G..
Note: you have to download the translation files only once. -
How can I search in Hebrew? I only have English keyboard on my iPhone/iPod
In order to add Hebrew keyboard to your device, go to the iPhone/iPod settings, select General -> Keyboard -> International Keyboards.
There you can enable the Hebrew keyboard as well. -
How can I read Hebrew and English in parallel?
In the settings, you first have to choose the Bible Language (set it to Heb. & Eng.)
Then you'll be asked to approve the download of the English text.
Then in the settings, you'll have the option to choose the Bidi display: Line after Line.. or Side by Side.. -
There is no Hebrew keyboard in the iPad, how can I search in Hebrew?
The iPad does not include a Hebrew Keyboard at the moment.
That is why an internal Hebrew Keyboard was added to Tanach for all.
To operate it, make sure you have enabled the internal keyboard from the application settings.
Then, when in the search tab, make sure you hold your iPad in portrait mode, since that is the only orientation that is supported. -
How can I view commentaries?
In order to view commentaries for a verse - just press on any verse and a menu will appear.
In that menu select the 'Show Commentaries' option.. -
I can't find Nevi’im (Prophets) and Ketuvim (Writings)?
If you reached this state, you probably selected the Onkelus language of the Bible (or Hebrew with Onkelus)
Targum Onkelוs is only available for Torah, and therefore the option to see the other books is not displayed.
To go back and see the other books, you have to set the language of the Bible back to Hebrew or English. -
Is there a way to view Parasha by alioth (reshon, sheni, ...).
No. At the moment there is no way, but it will be in one of the next versions..

Are there commentaries in English?
At the moment there are only commentaries in Hebrew, taken from the MikraNet website.
To see the commentaries you must be online (the only part in the application that needs internet connectivity) -
How can I copy a text?
To select a text and copy, press anywhere in the text area but make sure you press somewhere on the background.
Then you'll see the normal selection tool with the copy options. -
When I copy text from a chapter and then try to search for it - I get no results
When you copy the text - it is copied with the vowels (nikud) and the search is not working for that. you have to search without vowels (at least for now).

I've written notes on some of the Pesukim. How can I view them?
To view the notes, go to the bookmarks tab and make sure the top left button says that 'With Notes' or 'Only Notes'

When I want to search a word in Hebrew, I'm getting a keyboard in English (or french?) but not in Hebrew.
Since OS 3.0 there is an integrated support for the Hebrew language.
That means that you can add an Hebrew keyboard in the iPhone/iPod settings to be available in all the applications.
To do that, go to the device settings, General, International, Keyboards, and add the Hebrew keyboard as well.
Once you did, you will see in the keyboard a button with a small world on it - this button switch the languages.. -
I can't find Nevi'im or Ketuvim. The language is set to Hebrew.
1. Make sure that the Bible language is set to Hebrew/English or Heb & Eng.
When using Onkelus, you'll not see Nevi'im and Ketuvim.
2. Make sure you are in the Chapter view and not Parasha
